Summer experience part III: Witten, Germany

Hey again!
I wanted to complete my summer-story with a shooting in my hometown. Just by chance I met an old friend, Robin, who told me that he was kind of building up an own business with a few friends, all designers, photographers and artists. I told him that I just came back from the IBF and the WBPF and he asked me if  I was interested to just "bodypaint" in his studio one day as he has a model friend who always wanted to try bodypainting. Just 3 days after we met in his studio and I got to know the model, Steffi, a very nice and pretty girl and from the start we got along very well. We were two painters, me and my friend Raquel who joined me this day. We thought about something "wild" like a jungle-painting in powerful colours. Actually we went there without any further sketched design and just "let it flow".
This is what came out:

So, this is actually all that I did during this summer, the rest was all chill-out with my family and friends.

So then, good night and sweet dreams to everyone!!

Summer experience part II: IBF, Bingen

Hey guys,
as I promised last month, I make a new post telling you about my time at the IBF Bingen.
Actually I had no idea that there was another bodypainting festival in Germany just one week after the great time I had in Seeboden. When some of my friends I met in Austria told me to go there, I didn't even think about it. I booked the flight and applied for the contest the day I came back home from Austria.
The next few hours I spent thinking about what I was going to do and finally I decided to make a mermaid, as the topic was "Fantasy" and the festival took place just next to the Rhine.
I got inspired by pictures I found all over the Internet, photos, comics, paintings and some fairytales I remembered from my childhood. The day after I did the headpiece which was kind of difficult as I was under time-pressure and, believe it or not, I COULDN'T FIND ANY SHELLS IN BARCELONA! So i had to wing it a lot with things I found all over my place (like fridge-magnets, stones, bast and doily).
First of all, I was quite impressed about the countryside of Bingen with the Rhine and the vineyards all over the hills around the town. A very charming place!! I actually am from Germany but I had never been to this part of Germany before so I was kind of surprised to see Germany from a tourist's point of view ;)
I was so glad to see faces of people I got to know in Austria and to spend time with them. And also I really enjoyed meeting new people like our wonderful model Sabine (thanks to Wolf again for presenting her to us!!) or Erasmo from Malaga, our tent-mate ;D
After all, it was great fun there, making new experiences like always having a rescue blanket when painting outdoors and not to paint too many small details when presenting on stage.
And remember ALWAYS to have 2 copies of the music you want to play in the presentation.
Here's a photo of our model Sabine, taken by Keck Photography.

I really miss you guys and can't wait to see you again in march to rock Almere! =)

Summer experience part I : WBF, Austria

Hey there!
I just wanted to post some pictures of works I made during this summer.
During a bodypainting demonstration in class I heard about the WBF in Austria and thought "I don't have any experience yet....why not gain some?" and booked the hotel and the flight the next day. The best decision I ever made!
The topic was "subcultures" and I decided to make a mixture of Gothic-, Lolita- and Fetish-style.
My friend and schoolmate Alba joined me and we made a wig of coloured hemp and stuff like heavy chains and keys, symbolizing the fetish side of our design.
Fortunately we found an amazing model, KB from New York, who made a great job!
Here is a picture taken by the photographer, Ulf Schering, in the backstage area of the WBF Seeboden.

Next time I'll tell you about our work in the IBF-Bingen competition!

Have a nice day, everybody!

Hello world, here I am!

Hey guys!
My name is Maria and I'm writing this blog to publish photos of my artworks as a make-up artist and bodypainter. I'm 21 years old and live in Barcelona/Spain and this summer I will start my 2nd year at a college for make-up artists. My education there implies everything from hairdressing, wigdressing, SFX make-up, beauty and fashion make-up, body- and facepainting and also lots of theory like anatomy, knowledge about chemistry and stuff. Actually the thing I like most is bodypainting, that's why I tried my luck at 2 bodypainting-festivals this summer just to gain experience and get to know people.
The 2 festivals were the greatest experience I had in this kind of artworks and I really really enjoyed it! I met amazing people who are great artists and great models and I really was surprised how close they are to each other although they were rivals at the contest. As they all say "where ever you go, you are part of the bodypainting-family", that's the spirit and I really love it!

I want to thank everyone who guided me on this way, those who help me, those who lift me up when I'm down and make me go on to achieve my goal: to spread bodypainting-colour all over the world!

As Wiser would say: "I'm going to kill it!"

Saludos,
Maria
